Active Voice Kinesis*/NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician
Course Description
The Active Voice Kinesis* and NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician course is a five-day instructor led course held in Seattle, Washington for reseller technicians and end users. This course provides a day and a half overview of Windows 2003/Active Directory, Exchange, and SQL, and three and a half days of Voice Mail System (VMS) administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting training. Students will receive all current VMS documentation on a CD and a student manual that covers system administration, PBX integrations, troubleshooting, and remote maintenance. Students will get hands-on training and exposure in key areas of the latest voice mail technology and equipment, including fail-over and companion servers.
Pre-requisites
Pre-requisites include a working knowledge of the Microsoft® Windows® 2003 operating system, basic understanding of networking fundamentals, and an entry-level knowledge of how SQL, Microsoft Exchange® 2003, Active Directory®, and telephony applications work.
Course Completion
Upon successful completion of the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician course, a student should be able to:
- Correctly install, configure, and upgrade a Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 stand-alone VMS.
- Understand the administration, PBX integrations, troubleshooting, remote maintenance, and backups of the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 VMS.
- Be able to perform the basic administration and installation of Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2003, and SQL 2000 Server, and create/manage User Objects, Groups, Organizational Units, and Databases.
Course Exam
Successful completion of this course will prepare a student for the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician Certification Exam, which will be given on the final day of class. To earn the Active Voice Kinesis or NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician Certification, a student must pass the final System Technician's Exam with a score of 85% or higher.
Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 Advanced Technician
Course Description
The Active Voice Kinesis and NEC Univerge UM8500 Advanced Technician course is a five-day instructor led course held in Seattle, Washington. This course is designed as an advanced class for those individuals already holding a valid Active Voice Kinesis or NEC Univerge UM8500 Basic Technician Certification. The five-day course will cover in greater detail Operating Systems, Networking, Exchange, SQL, Clustering, Fail-over, Active Directory, Configurations, and Troubleshooting.

Mandatory to attend class: Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 Technician Certification
Strongly Recommended: MCSE or at least two MCP's in the following topics:

Completion of this course
Upon successful completion of this course an attendee should be able to:
- Correctly install, configure, and upgrade an Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 in a mixed POV and Unified Messaging environment.
- Install and configure advanced voicemail clustered systems, including set-up of the Microsoft Cluster for Exchange 2003 and SQL Server 2000. Upgrade a clustered voicemail system.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot clustering for fail-over and notifications in a voicemail-clustered environment.
- Understand the administration, PBX integrations, troubleshooting, remote maintenance, and backups of the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 VMS in a mixed POV/ UM and clustered voicemail environment.
- Be able to perform advanced administration, installation and troubleshooting of Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2003, and SQL 2000 Server.

Active Voice Repartee® for Windows® Basic Technician
Course Description
The Active Voice Repartee for Windows Basic Technician course is a five-day instructor led course held in Seattle, Washington for reseller technicians and end users. This course is a blend of lecture, group learning, self-learning, and several hours of hands-on lab experience designed for those individuals expected to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Repartee for Windows Voice Mail System (VMS).
We will cover the basic information needed to successfully install and configure the hardware, software, feature packages, Visual Messaging applications, and integration packages used with the Repartee for Windows system. Students will learn about specific settings and/or features and apply them to the system they will build over the five-day course, including all System Manager tasks.
Students will receive all current VMS documentation on a CD that covers system administration, PBX integrations, troubleshooting, and remote maintenance. Students will get hands-on training and exposure in key areas of the latest voice mail technology and equipment.

Students will learn about specific settings and/or features and apply them to the system they will build over the five-day course, including all System Manager tasks. Students will get hands-on training and exposure in key areas of the latest voice mail technology and equipment.

Course Description
The Active Voice Kinesis and NEC Univerge UM8500 System Administrator course is a three-day instructor led course held in Seattle, Washington for reseller employees and end users.
This course is designed to educate those individuals who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the voice mail system. The course will cover System Setup, Add/Remove/Modify Subscribers, Console Tour, Call Handlers, Distribution Lists, Reports, Back-up Tools, System Monitoring, Visual Messaging installation/configuration, and Remote Maintenance.
Students will receive all applicable VMS (Voice Mail System) documentation on a CD the first day of class. Students will get extensive hands-on training and exposure through scenario-based lab exercises.
Pre-requisites
Pre-requisites include a working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system, mouse and keyboard.
Course Completion
Upon successful completion of the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 System Administrator course, a student should be able to:
- Correctly configure and back-up an Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 stand-alone VMS.
- Understand the administration, remote maintenance, and backups of the Active Voice Kinesis/NEC Univerge UM8500 VMS.
